Canada’s health care system is anything but the idyllic arrangement trumpeted by those who advocate importing Canadian-style “single-payer” health care into the United States. As this Fraser Institute report reveals in sharp detail, Canadian health care is plagued by systemic problems, not the least of which is its inability to deliver timely care for the full range of health care events. The result is what the authors call “a medical system offering low expectations cloaked in lofty rhetoric” and in need of “substantial reform.”
